When the Potters retired to Whidbey Island, their house had great views of the water and mountains. However, they wanted an addition built to expand their small kitchen and eating area, plus a roof over the deck that ran beside the kitchen.
Quirk's design gave them a roomy, light-filled kitchen -- plus a more welcoming entrance and stronger connection with their outdoor spaces. The addition extended over a septic field, so cantilevered concrete support was designed for the stairs to float above.
