The owners of this apple orchard near Chelan, Washington wanted an easy-maintenance home that took advantage of their spectacular views of the river, the hills, and the orchard. They wanted a house full of natural light.
An eagle's nest office peaks up above the orchard, giving the owners a commanding view. The office also helps provide natural cooling in the 100+ degree summer days by helping pull breezes through the house.
To help improve their heat pump efficiency in the winter, Quirk installed the pump in a massive black concrete cove. The black concrete absorbs winter warmth and also deflects the operating noise away from the home.
